Whether you're "on the go" like so many here or "on the recliner" like I am, these are just plain handy snacks or light meals without tasting at all bad.
What? You say they're healthy? Welp, if I'd known that I never would have tried them and liked them all. Only complaint I've had is the tuna in one has no taste; but the surroundings are nice.
It's just a healthy little treat for folks who have trouble sometimes getting their veggies. And nice in summer!

All of the St. Dalfour meals are god but this and the couscous are especially so. I find myself having to ration myself and to defend my ration from others in the household who like the whole grain with beans even more than I do. None of us are vegetarians but this stuff we like.

This product is not as good as the one with sweet corn--it's a little heavy on the herbs, and needed a good spritz with the hot sauce. However, it makes a fine lunch with a glass of iced tea, has lots of protein and fiber, and it's vegan to boot.

I acknowledge all the things said about this dinner by the previous reviewer. However, my interpretation is different-- I loved it. For one thing, I suspected it had MSG. Why? Because it was so delicious. I love MSG, no matter how bad a rap it's gotten over the past few years.
This is comfort food, plain and simple. No, it's not healthy. If you're sensitive to salt or heavy preservatives, leave it on the shelf. I suspect there's really no way for them to make something that doesn't need refrigeration without preservatives anyway. Bottom live, I adored this and the chicken noodle variety, and avidly look forward to trying some of the other chicken varieties (I don't do beef or pork).

The taste of this product is acceptable. It's about what I expected from a processed food product. Not "I have to have it again", but not "yuck! this belongs in the garbage". There's no wow factor here in terms of presentation or flavor, but it'll do if you're crimped for time.
The turkey doesn't taste much like turkey. It's more like a hard disc of indistinct dry white/pinkish meat due to the manufacturing process. It changed the texture and flavor significantly in exchange for shelf life. Frozen TV dinners I've had contain turkey slices that are soft, relatively juicy, and really do taste like turkey that you'd get in cold cuts.
The stuffing is adequate. It's mushy, but the texture is greatly improved by the crunchy bits of celery added to it. The gravy is not so tasty and has a slight aftertaste that I found strange and unnatural. It does not taste like chicken broth.

If you've seen my reviews for some other Hormal Compleats, this goes about in the middle. Not as good as the meatloaf; but not as bad as the chicken with dressing. Edible and handy and quick. Opinion.
Let's just understand what these Compleats are and what we mostly use them for: a quick lunch. I doubt that anyone expects a gourmet meal, nor anything with a lot of flavor because that might lose Hormel's mass-market appeal. They're simple, non-intrusive quick snacks in most cases.
We shouldn't expect a lot; we should expect salt. That's how it's done, as most folks find salt and/or MSG make otherwise bland foods more palatible. These are good for what they are and let's not expect fine dining or overly costly "health foods."

I must say, I was hesitant to order a "tub" of demi glace base, but I just don't have the time or inclination to make my own these days.
I received the product a few days ago, ordered 2 tubs of Demi-Glace Gold and a tub of their Chicken Demi (I know, but I figured why not?)
Opened up the Demi-Glace Gold, and could immediately tell this wasn't just some "base". The aroma is rich, not over powering, and has a very dense gelatinous texture.
I made a roasted chicken that evening and decided to do a quick Cabernet and Port wine reduction, just simple to check out the new product.
Made the Demi per the instructions (1T to 4T water, heat for 5 mins), then added it to the wine reduction (another 4T of reduced liquid or so), then added another 4T of chicken stock (just good Chicken stock, not the Chicken DemiGlace I mentioned earlier), let this simmer while whisking over a med-low heat for about 3-4 minutes while it all pulled together.

If you are looking for something that will add flavor to your cooking, the Demi Galace is what you are looking for. Some time ago, I purchased 4oz of Demi Glace from a well known merchant, for $30, my family and I found the flavor excellent. This product is also in the $30 range but you get 16oz making this the most economical way to purchase Demi Glace. You could make your own, but it takes 2 days and constant attention. There are other verities of Demi Glace for poultry, vegetable and fish so what ever you are cooking, you can add remarkable flavor with almost no effort. If you can't use the full 16 oz at once (unless you are a restaurant you wont) you can freeze it and it will keep for months.
