First, let's be clear, these meals are for when you are in a pinch and need something quick and easy. These are not gourmet dinners. That said, I was surprised that this meal tasted as good as it did. It's not bad and the "steak" was quite large. The potatoes had some texture and actually tasted like potatoes. I would buy this again.
Pretty good for a hot meal in a hurry. I cooked mine a bit longer than the recommended 90 seconds. You'll need to experiment a bit with your microwave. Basically 90 seconds was not hot enough for me. I would not eat these too often, due to the high sodium content (true for a lot of canned/processed foods).
I did not think this would be enough, but with a roll on the side, I found it pretty filling.
2011-12-16 Update: Still enjoying these as an occasional quick meal. Pretty tasty and satisfying and the quality has remained consistent.

The cut slices of potato are good. They are not soggy and not hard. Just the right level of resistance to the fork. The gravy isn't chemical tasting. Thin but decent. The Salisbury Steak is easy to cut with the fork and still has some body. The tastes are what you'd expect but the textures are a lot better than I'd expect.
It says it has 280 Calories. The expiration date was 13 months from the day it arrived.

I am on a diet (counting calories); and I just ate one of these Salisbury steak Hormel meals. Maybe it was because of my diet, but I was pleasantly surprised and thought this was quite tasty. I bought mine at a local grocery; and got them because they could sit on a shelf; they have a long exp date; and told me how many calories in each kind. Amazon doesnt meet the price I paid on sale locally, but I checked to see if they sold them. When I cant find them cheaper elsewhere, I will order here. I am on my way back to my local store to get more while they are still on sale. My husband is eating the beef stew one right now; and he thinks they are pretty good too.

I had previously ordered and enjoyed the Split Pea with Barley by Dr. McD. I ordered this one this time because I saw it was lighter in sodium.
It cooked up fine in two minutes of steeping in the hot water. It had a nice texture and flavor, but it was thinner than the Split Pea with Barley, which is why I liked the other one better.
This cup of soup has 200 calories , 1 gram of fat, 13 grams of protein, 9 grams of fiber, and 360 mg of sodium. It boasts 30% of recommended daily value of Vit A and 12% of iron. The entire cup is considered one serving (which I specify as some McD cup products specify two servings per container.) For those who have issues with gluten, this has NO GLUTEN.
For those who want a more healthful option in convenience foods/instant soups, this is a nice choice. Solid pea flavor, easy to fix, no animal products. A nice little soup. (But I do give a higher thumbs up to the one with barley).

I love soup cups because they are quick, easy and don't create a lot of mess to clean up. Most soup cups, especially in grocery stores are way too high in sodium to be even remotely healthy. These Dr McDougall's soups address all of these issues. They are Vegan, and even if you are not, you will find them tasty and good for you. Plus, if you have allergies, the odds are with vegan foods, that what you are allergic to isn't in here.
Not all of the nutrition information is shown, so here goes: 200 calories, NO FAT, NO CHOLESTEROL, Sodium 360mg [a lot lower than I've seen in any other brand of soup cup], Carbs 35 grams, Fiber 9 grams, PROTEIN 13 GRAMS. It's a good source of Vitamin A and Iron. If you are a veggie person, you know that you have to pay attention to make sure you get enough protein. This is a great source, especially for a 200 calorie serving. The cup, by the way, is larger than most. It's a very satisfying serving.
